Maria Menounos
Maria discovered she had an individual health issue as she took care of her mother, who had stage 4 brain tumors. In February 2014 Menounos started experiencing troubling symptoms. In the exclusive cover article of PEOPLE Menounos admits that she had been experiencing headaches and lightheadedness when she was on sets. "My speech became disorganized. Also, I had difficulty understanding the teleprompter." An MRI revealed Menounos had a size golf ball-sized meningioma brain tumor, which was pressing on her facial nerves. Menounos made an appointment with her mother's doctor, renowned neurosurgeon Dr. Keith L. Black The surgery was scheduled to be performed on June 8 - her birthday. Dr. Black said it was 98 percent benign. We won't know that when they've reached that point. In the arduous surgery which lasted about seven hours, Dr. Black was able to remove 99.9 percentage of tumor, which was not cancerous. According Dr. Black, there's a 6-7 percent chance that the cancer will come back. However, I'll take these odds any day. Menounos has returned home from an inpatient stay of six days. Menounos is recuperating and spending time with Litsa and her mom. Litsa's recent MRI confirms she's still free of cancer.
