Mary Eileen McDonnell (born April 28 1952) is an American stage actor and TV actress. She was nominated for an Academy Award nomination for her role as Stands With A Fist in Dances with Wolves and she is also well-known for her role as the President Laura Roslin in Battlestar Galactica and as President's wife in Independence Day and for her starring part in Donnie Darko, as the main character's mother.
